Our history in the field of rejuvenation science began in 2016. Until then, we thought that although aging meant the inevitability of death for us and everyone we loved, it was something that was practically impossible to reverse or stop within a few decades. However, in that year we discovered that scientists had already managed to uncover many important phenomena relating to aging and rejuvenation that indicated that aging was a reversible process. Thus, we decided to contribute in some way to speeding up the arrival of rejuvenation technologies.
We started by applying the knowledge we had accumulated in our careers as translators to rejuvenation, translating some important books on the science of rejuvenation from English and Spanish into Portuguese. Our backgrounds as journalist (Nicolás) and chemist (Nina) allowed us to produce quality translations and editions of these science-themed books, and thus we translated and/or published a total of 10 books through NTZ, Nina's publishing company. However, when we published the book "The Illusion of Knowledge" by the biologist Harold Katcher in 2021, our course in the science of rejuvenation changed.
As the technology implemented by Katcher was by far the most promising in the field, we became communication consultants for the company he worked for, Yuvan Research Inc. and worked in this way for a year and a half. However, after this period, we realized that this was not the way in which we could most effectively help the science of rejuvenation, and we stopped being consultants for the company and started making science videos about the area of rejuvenation for the Healthy Life Extension Society (Heales), a Belgian foundation focused on promoting the advancement of the science and medicine of rejuvenation.
However, in 2024, we realized that the speed of progress in the science of rejuvenation was not as we would have liked, and that the time had come to "get our hands dirty", that is, we would have to start directly carrying out the experiments needed to bring rejuvenation as quickly as possible to all of humanity. In addition, after 8 years in the field, we had come to the conclusion that the full and immediate dissemination of the results of our experiments would be essential if we were to have a relevant impact on the field, and so we decided to create the Rejuvenation Science Institute (ICR), a non-profit organization of a scientific and technological nature, with the aim of carrying out research, education and innovation activities related to the science of rejuvenation.
